Services Provided by NWNW Lawns
Lawn Care and Landscape Maintenance
Our full service package will include weekly mowing, edging, blowing off of clippings, bed and shrub maintenance, quarterly fertilizing, and routine sprinkler system adjustments.
A well maintained, custom-tailored environment requires unprecedented attention to detail. Lawns need to be mowed to specification; perennials, shrubberyand ornamental grasses trimmed to promote growth and full specimen trees need to be pruned to maintain shape and to allow proper sunlight to penetrate to promote strong turf growth conditions. Regular lawn assessments are available to ensure the health and vibrancy of your homestead.
Having a lawn that is thick and green is a benefit to our environment. It helps cool the environment, convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, improve air quality and prevent soil erosion to stabilize the ground beneath our feet.
During your initial consultation we will gather a detailed analysis of your yard covering issues such as:
- Grass and soil types
- Thatch and turf density
- Shade and sun exposure
- Ornamental Tree/ Shrub types
- Mowing and watering
|
- Problem areas including disease, compaction and pet damage
- Grassy and broadleaf weeds
- Insects
|
With this information we gather we will construct a customized lawn care program for your lawns needs. We'll help it grow thicker and greener using professional grade fertilizers, weekly visits for both the lawn and shrubs and constant communication between us and the customer.
Throughout your lawns improvements we will make changes to your lawns program and adjust as needed. If there are any discrepancies we’ll be there at no additional charge with 48 hours of notification. We’ll take care of your mowing schedule and watering schedule (we’ll need access to the control panel) to help give you a piece of mind of your lawns heath. Your shrubs will be maintained to ensure a thick and healthy growth. Any disease or infestations of insects will be notified to the customer at first sight.

Core Aeration
The number one reward to aerating your lawn is allowing sufficient oxygen to reach the grass roots. Having too much soil compaction will severely reduce the space around the grass roots which will limit the amount of oxygen that is essential for proper growth for your lawn. Oxygen is required so the roots can absorb oxygen, water and nutrients.
Verticuttersor de-thatching machines have hollow tines or tubes that cut cores out of the soil. Ideally, these soil cores are one-half to three-quarters of an inch in diameter, two to three inches in length, and pulled every six inches on average. The soil cores deposited on the surface are decomposed by irrigation, rainfall, and mowing.
Key benefits of core aeration:
-
Improves turf health by increasing the soil's access to air, water, and fertilizer
-
Aids thatch management by punching holes in the thatch layer and introducing thatch-decomposing microorganisms from deep in the soil
-
Relieves soil compaction by decreasing soil density to support better absorption of moisture and nutrients
-
Accelerates pH modification by allowing lime or sulphur treatments to penetrate deeper into the soil profile
-
Improves results of over seeding by promoting seed-to-soil contact and creating an optimal growth environment
Time to Aerate
If you have thatch already, the best time to aerate is early spring, except for Bermuda grass and St. Augustine grass, which are most effectively de-thatched during the warm growing months of summer.
Core aeration is most effective as a preventive measure, ventilating the soil before thatch builds up. However, if thatch exceeds a thickness of two inches, you may have no other remedy than to strip off the thatched sod layer and replant a new lawn.

Additional Services
-Tree trimming
Trees are our world’s most valuable natural assets. They convert carbon-dioxide to oxygen, without it life as you know it would not exist. They provide building materials, heating, and paper. They have great character and are known for their eye appeal throughout the seasons. Providing proper maintenance and pruning of your trees will ensure a beautiful long life for all of your trees. Removing dead branches reduces areas of disease and insect infestation. Also removing small young growth on mature limbs enhancesthe look of all your trees. All cuts are sealed with tree paint to ensure no disease contamination.
Get your young trees off to a good start by having us professionally prune them. Many "core" problems can be avoided by maintaining trees while they are still small. Proper pruning gets young trees off to the right start, saving more costly tree trimming in the future.
